The bell is large and made of pale metal. It hangs from a hook and a short chain, under a beam tied with a cord. A wooden pole holds the other side. The man wears jeans and sandals, and grips the plank with his left hand. Loose dirt fills the foreground. A ridge shows through the leaves on the left.
